How does the adjustable claw work?

There is a spring-loaded button on the side of the head. Press it, swing the claw to the angle you need, and let go. It drops into one of four locked positions: straight rip claw for normal work, hooked down for pulling at ninety degrees, tucked forward for prying flush in tight spots, and folded in so the hammer hangs off a ladder rung or a belt. Ten seconds, no tools.

Will it get a stuck CV axle or a stubborn mount out?

It gives you a pry claw you can set at the angle the job needs, which is why mechanics reach for it when a straight claw cannot get under an axle flange or line up an engine mount. Set the claw, get the bite, lever. It is not a ball joint press and it will not replace a proper puller on a pressed part. Use it for leverage and persuasion, not for jobs that need a hydraulic tool.

Is there any play in the claw?

A little, and we would rather tell you than have you find out. The head indexes on a pin and a spring detent, so each locked position has a hair of movement in it. It does not affect striking or pulling. If you want the dead-solid feel of a one-piece forged Estwing, this is a different tool: you are trading that for a claw that moves.

How heavy is it?

The head is 16 oz, but the handle is steel, so the whole tool is heavier in hand than a fiberglass 16 oz hammer. Figure roughly two pounds all in. Framing all day, you will feel it. In the garage, the truck box and around the property, that mass is what drives a nail or seats a pin in fewer hits.

Will the magnet hold every nail?

It holds common steel nails: framing, finish, roofing, brads. Set the nail in the slot on the face, swing once to start it, then drive it home. Aluminum, brass, copper and stainless nails are not magnetic and will not stick. Neither will screws, and that is not what the slot is for.

How long will it last?

Forged carbon steel head and claw, steel handle, TPR rubber grip. No batteries, no electronics. The moving part is a steel pin and a spring, the same kind of index found on ratchets that live in toolboxes for decades. Keep it dry, do not use the claw as a chisel, and it will outlast the pegboard it hangs on.
